Conversation - Alumni Geographical distribution and Mentorship
We had finally set up the Whatapps group 'MAUD Alumni' for every Alumni to have a common platform to converse with each other. Yes there are some challenges but with a little effort we could overcome the inconveniences, for a start, in Whatsapp, it would be good to change the text below the tab 'About' to your name, otherwise, they are all mobile numbers that make us digitally abstract to relate.
From the data that we had received from the Alumni forms, we gather some pertinent feedback and concern. I could categorize them as follows:
- Continuous learning and sharing of ideas
- Networking and expanding one's professional life
- Built a Urban Design Community
- Desire to design a better world
- Concern with the current bleak world trend
Currently, the number of respondents to joining the Alumni Network stands at about Hundred. It is a good start. The majority are residing in Singapore designing for the region, followed by China, India, Australia, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
This morning I had a brief discussion on Whatsapp with Chen Hong, and the topic of Mentorship came up. We both agreed that it is important for personal growth and the growth of the Urban Design Community. For a start, I would invite seniors to volunteer as mentors. Do message me.
For those who would like to join the mentorship scheme, please JOIN HERE!
