One comment from Jason Ang: I found out that from the Kranji War Memorial there exist a vista along Kranji Road to the coast where the tree in the sea use to be when I was a child. The vista carried on to Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque on a knoll in JB that was built between 1892 and 1900. Looks likely that Colin may have intentionally aligned the plan to Abu Bakar Mosque as I believed that was one of the point where the Japanese had crossed the straits. The vista looks like a sky streak left by the the 'Hawker Hurricane' designed by Colin St Claire Oakes

  1. It is a well research and presented sharing session by Athanasios, I not only enjoy the tea party but went away with many lessons. One impressed me, is the selection of architects, for some projects that weigh heavily on culture and history, the criterial should be different from that of the 'Star Architect', their personal history and experience, in this case, war experience, would be invaluable in their sensitivity in handling the design. However, that subtleties are only revealed by the careful study of the researchers. We need more people like Athanasios, who helps to make the intangible tangible in his narratives. Thanks Athanasios. Great work!

  2. Thanks Meng Foo. The research highlighted the serious nature of architecture and the architects. Something I hope students these days consider as they embark on this career.
