Dr. Zhang Ye Dir. MAUD

ZHANG Ye is Associate Professor, and Director of Master of Arts in Urban Design (MAUD) programme, at Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore. He holds a PhD in Architecture from the University of Cambridge, UK. Ye was a fellow of Cambridge Overseas Trust from 2008 to 2011, and also a visiting academic at The Bartlett School of Planning, University College London in 2015. Now he serves as the Director General of International Forum on Urbanism (IFoU), an international network of universities and research institutes with the task to strengthen the collaboration in the field of Urbanism. Jason Ang, a Singaporean that has practiced architecture, urban design and master planning for the past 25 years. The last 20 years of his practice was in the People’s Republic of China with majority of the projects being large scale architecture, urban planning and design of cities. His private practice has since completed more than 150 projects that spanned an area of more than 1000km2.

Interested in the idea of a vibrant, sustainable and diverse city, Jason has embarked in the study and method of creating interactive places since his university days. He has developed a land value indexing system and has applied, together with the interactive place methodology, to his architecture, urban design and planning projects. In today’s high-speed techno-driven world, citizenry disconnecting with nature and socio-reality is inextricable. Jason hopes that his vision for public places being interactive and contextual niches of choice and activities can recoup the lost interest we have in many of our fragmented and gentrified cities; in short, every citizen should have a choice and place in the city. More ...

He Zhuoshu is the Teaching Assistant (Educator Track) of Master of Arts in Urban Design program, and a PhD student of Architecture at NUS. Zhuoshu obtained his Master of Urban Planning degree from The State University of New York at Buffalo and bachelor’s degree in urban planning from South China University of Technology. His research resides on the intersection of urban diversity and quantitative analysis of urban form. His working paper was awarded the Best Paper Award in the 13th Conference of International Forum on Urbanism. Linkedin

Zhu Yihan is a PhD student of Architecture at NUS currently. Yihan obtained his Master of Arts (Urban Design) degree from NUS and Bachelor of Engineering degree major in Urban Planning from Sun Yat-Sen University. During four years of practice as an urban designer in Singapore, his project experience ranged from the new towns, eco-tourist districts, industrial parks planning in China, tropical architecture in Southeast Asia, and public housing design in India. With C+T architects and planners since 2017, Yihan has won several international design competitions with the Company. In 2021, he starts his research exploring the quantitative study of urban public space. Linkedin
